Joan Biediger: Artist, Cartographer, Writer, and Host of Her Shrink Ray Eye
Joan Biediger lives and works in Salt Lake City, Utah. She is an artist, cartographer, writer, miniature painter, and host of Her Shrink Ray Eye, a podcast about miniature art, figure painting, box dioramas, scale modeling, perception, and creative practice. Drawing on years of looking closely at maps, images, models, and small constructed worlds, Joan explores what miniatures reveal about scale, memory, story, attention, and how we see.
Why I Make the Show
I created Her Shrink Ray Eye because I wanted to talk about miniature art as more than technique. I’m interested in what happens when we look closely at small worlds: how scale changes perception, how figures and dioramas hold memory, and how the bench becomes a place for thinking through art, story, and creative practice.
